MIKE MAYHEW

Mike Mayhew is a world-renowned illustrator, known for creating some of the most exciting and visually striking images in the comic industry today. Specializing in photo-realism and dynamic renderings of intense subjects, Mike seamlessly blends state-of-the-art digital techniques with traditional watercolor and acrylic painting, with work capturing the intersection of fine art and comic book storytelling.


Mike began his career in 1993, penciling comic pages for DC Comics, and quickly made his mark with notable runs on Zorro and Vampirella. His powerful cover art gained widespread recognition with iconic runs on Marvel Comics' Mystique, Elektra, The Pulse, and She-Hulk. Over the years, he has illustrated and painted some of the most memorable covers and pages in the comic book world, including his fully painted X-Men Origins: Jean Grey and Savage, his first creator-owned title for Image Comics.

In 2009, Mike earned an Effie Award for his work on the groundbreaking online motion comic "The Realm" for Cisco Systems. His influence continued to grow through high-profile projects like The Star Wars (2013), an adaptation of George Lucas’s original 1974 draft, which became a #1 New York Times bestseller and won the Diamond Gem Award for "Licensed Book of the Year". Mike’s art also features in Avengers, Justice League, Guardians Team Up, Star Wars, and X-Men: Gold.


Mayhew's work remains a cornerstone of some of the most collectible variant covers for Marvel’s flagship properties, making his art a touchstone for comic fans and collectors alike.
